What to visit in Riga?
The world-famous Dom Cathedral, the building of which appeared as early as the 13th century, was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt in different eras. It displays different styles of architecture. The cathedral has a concert hall with the world’s largest organ and museums: maritime and historical, which are dedicated to the city.
The active St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where you can listen to the service and, using the elevator, go up to the roof to enjoy a wonderful view of the city. And, of course, take some great photos for Instagram!
The House of Blackheads is an ancient historical building from the Renaissance period with an active concert hall. This hall is famous for the fact that Ferenc Liszt and Joseph Wagner once performed there. Today, the House also serves as the temporary residence of the President of Latvia.
Schwab’s house, known for the fact that it was the first in the city to be equipped with communal facilities. Today, the building houses an interesting local history museum.
The Legendary House, on the facade of which there is a golden eagle with spread wings, and two black cats with curved backs walk on two symmetrical towers. The building houses a jazz restaurant and casino “Black Cat”.
Three ancient mansions combined into a composition called “Three Brothers”. In one of the buildings there is an exhibition of the architectural museum.
The largest art museum in Latvia is located in the center of the Latvian capital, in Esplanada Park. The museum has a large collection of paintings by Latvian and European masters of painting.

The main market is another attraction of Riga. It is considered one of the oldest and largest markets in Europe and is famous for its unusual forms of pavilions with long tunnels connecting them. At the market, you can not only buy souvenirs, but also delicious, authentic food.
Nature lovers should go for a walk on Bastion Hill – a famous city park with beautiful nature and the opportunity to ride a pleasure boat.
For lovers of active recreation, there is a unique sports complex 333 with go-karts, motocross tracks, jet skiing. And on the beach in the Ziemel district, you can test yourself as a cool surfer, wakeboarder, and do extreme parasailing: flying with a parachute behind a boat or jet ski.
For travelers with children, there is a large and interesting Riga Zoo, where you can get to know animals, birds and insects in almost natural conditions. Go with your children to the largest entertainment center in Latvia – Go Planet Park. What is missing here: museums, zoos, and water parks, indoor and outdoor play complexes with swings-carousels, trampolines, slides, extreme attractions, go-karts, many cafes and restaurants. Livu water park with slides of different heights and extremes, swimming pools, and play areas is also worthy of attention.
