Italy topped the ranking of the most popular countries for vacations in the summer of 2024.
The upcoming summer tourist season may become one of the busiest in history due to the return of interest in travel.
With most tourists booking their trips months in advance, travel experts have already compiled a list of the world’s most popular travel destinations this summer.
They also outlined the main tourism trends in 2023. In particular, travel expenses continued to rise this season. On average, travelers are spending $9,333 on travel this summer, up nearly 7% from 2022 and up 27% from 2021.
At the same time, there were more elderly tourists this season. If in 2021, due to the fact that older people are exposed to a higher risk of health complications due to the coronavirus, such tourists made up only 29% of travelers. Last year, this indicator increased to 33%, and now to 40%.
In addition, this year there have been many more tourists in the world who prefer to spend their holidays abroad.
Although the study was conducted among American tourists, these trends are relevant worldwide. In addition, it gives an idea to tourists from other countries where the biggest excitement will be expected.
