Which island of Greece to choose for vacation?

Posted on 10/04/2024 By Travel Journal No Comments on Which island of Greece to choose for vacation?
  1. Santorini
Santorini is truly one of the most charming and unique places in Greece, also known as Thira. The island was formed about 3600 years ago as a result of a volcanic eruption. It has the shape of a crescent with a very deep caldera and steep picturesque rocks. Attracts guests with a rich history, a majestic volcanic landscape, turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea, wonderful beaches, snow-white houses with bright blue tops, exquisite cuisine and a unique idyllic atmosphere. It is heartwarming with fantastic panoramic views and sunsets, when the crimson sun slowly disappears over the horizon, coloring the water surface in shades of purple and gold. According to legend, the island of Santorini is the same Atlantis that was swallowed up by the sea several millennia ago.

What to do on the island of Santorini?
Tourists are invited to visit museums, explore archaeological sites, go to ceramic workshops and galleries, go horseback riding along the coastline, go on a kayaking trip through caves, go scuba diving or just relax on the beach. And true connoisseurs of wine have a real opportunity to taste drinks made from exclusive grape varieties, which local winemakers grow in special clay pots “ditches”. As a souvenir, you can buy ceramics, spices, olive oil, cheese, wine, beautiful jewelry, statuettes of Greek gods and other souvenirs.

  1. Mykonos (Mykonos)
Mykonos is an amazing Greek island with many picturesque towns and small bays, where an amazing atmosphere of relaxation and freedom prevails. You can get here only by air or sea. But fans of passionate recreation from all over the world are not afraid of a difficult road, the trip is 100% worth it. On the island of Mykonos, the feeling of lightness and holiday never leaves. After all, the territory is dotted with taverns, cafes, bars, restaurants and nightclubs, where it is better to reserve tables in advance. Trendy club tracks are heard from all sides long before the sun goes down. And at midnight, unrestrained fun begins with loud energetic music, songs and dances.

For those who are tired of noisy entertainment, we advise you to visit the Rarity Gallery of Modern Art and the stone church of Papaportiani, go shopping in Matogiani, visit an organic farm, walk the cobbled streets of the city of the same name, soak up the sun on equipped or wild beaches, visit the famous windmills, which have a particularly fascinating view at sunset. Don’t forget to also stop by the cozy M-eating restaurant for freshly caught sea bass and other great dishes.
